Obituary
In the quiet morning of September 15, 2026, Richard Kenneth Wilson Sr. embraced
Jesus and entered eternity, surrounded by his cherished family.
Born to Marshall Edward and Ethel Thompson Wilson, Richard's
journey was an enduring testament to his faith, love, and dedication.
He is now reunited with his beloved parents and brothers, Ronald T. and
Rodney Wayne Wilson, yet leaves an indelible legacy in the hearts of his surviving family:
his devoted wife of almost 70 years, Joan E. Mills Wilson; his children, Richard K. Wilson (Karen), Faith A. Wilson Champlin (William), and David R. Wilson (Angel); and his grandchildren,
Richard Wilson III (Lindsey), Jordan Champlin (Lauren), Logan Champlin, Ashley Wilson Hill (Matt),
Morgan Champlin (Kara), Chloe Wilson (Charlie), Chase Wilson, and great-grandchildren, Avery Wilson,
Ryker Champlin, Austin Champlin, Caden Hill, Oaklynn Ullman, Wrenley Hill, Carson Champlin, Conrad Wilson, Emerson Champlin, Reagan Champlin, who embody the future Richard dreamed for them.
Survived by siblings Joan A. Hitchens (Roland), Robert M. Wilson, James E. Wilson,
Kenneth R. Wilson (Debbie), and many beloved nieces and nephews, his story continues.
Richard was the proud owner of Wilson Construction Co. from 1972 until retirement in 2024, where he built not only structures, but deep relationships that spanned generations.
His steadfast faith led him to be an active member of Water's Edge Church in Milton
and a passionate supporter of Denton Wesleyan Camp.
Above all things in his life, the one that meant the most to him was his relationship with Jesus Christ.
His desire was that all those he came in contact with would have the same relationship.
He was never ashamed or afraid to share his testimony - it was his life.
There are many in Heaven because of his witness.
His last breath here on this earth was his first breath in Heaven with his Lord and Savior.
Richard has received his “Crown” in Heaven, his spiritual reward for his faithful service, and godly living.
His crown is now laid at the feet of JESUS!!! A visitation will be held on
Saturday, September 26, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at
Crossroad Community Church in Georgetown, Delaware.
A funeral service will immediately follow, and all are welcome to attend.
