Healing Takes Time

Healing Takes Time

When I first started recovery, I wanted everything to change overnight. I wanted to be healed, whole, and free immediately. I thought if I gave my life to Jesus, He’d just take the pain, the cravings, the trauma all of it and I’d walk away completely restored. And while He did begin the healing right away, what I’ve learned is healing is a process. That process takes time; addiction may have taken years to build its grip on our lives, and Jesus, in His love and wisdom, often heals layer by layer. Not just removing the pain, but restoring the heart. Jesus is not rushing us Jesus is walking with us.

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NIV)

Some days feel like huge victories. Others feel like setbacks. But neither defines us; Jesus does. His Word says that what He starts, He will finish.

“Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 1:6 (NIV)

So if you’re in recovery right now and you feel frustrated that you’re not "there" yet, take a breath. You don’t have to have it all figured out today. God is not disappointed in you. He’s not rushing you. He’s inviting you to walk closely with Him step by step, day by day.
Your progress might feel slow, but it’s still progress. Healing might be messy, but it’s still beautiful.

Jesus is not just at the finish line He’s right beside you every step of the way.
One day at a time. One step with Jesus at a time. That’s how healing happens.
